What is PEMF?

MEET OUR TX, OK, LA TERRITORY SALES MANAGER | Katarina Koefoed
In the last few years, we have really “boomed” all over the United States. As more of the industry continues to grow in the Southwest we have continued to add sales agents to our roster for that area. We wanted to especially introduce our Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana Territory Sales Manager, Katarina Koefoed! We sat down with her to help really get an understanding of who she is, what she’s accomplished, and how she feels about the #TherapyOfChampions.
How did you get into horses? What is your backstory?
I grew up with horses on a farm in Sweden and I started my riding career showing in
both dressage and jumping, but later focused on jumping. My horse knowledge I
dedicate to my mentors and previous trainers, Peter Eriksson and Rolf Goran
Bengtsson.
For the last 15 years or so I have professionally been working in the medical device arena in the specialty of neurosurgery, orthopedics, and anesthesia. I moved to Texas in 2016 and for the last 3 years, I have been running my own Equestrian business. This gave me a unique opportunity to work with my biggest passion, horses. However, it also has allowed me to combine the skills I acquired with my medical device and business background.
My business today includes Equipe Saddles (I am a saddle fitter), and I also represent Kingsland Equestrian, DeNiro boots, and KASK helmets. All the brands that I work with I personally have a wonderful experience from, Sport Innovations included. Sport Innovations and their outstanding and unique product portfolio really filled the gap in my business. It also gained my interest due to my medical background and passion for the well-being of horses.
How do you use the ProSeries & MAGPRO on a personal level?
Both the MAGPro Plus and ProSeries 3-1 I use mostly before training and it has been a game-changer for me, I have a fifteen-year-old Swedish Warmblood mare and she feels like she is eight years old again after using the PEMF and massage therapy on her. She is so much looser and more relaxed. I also feel that it has improved her capability to build muscles faster and better as well. Overall she seems and feels very satisfied.
Another important factor for me was that all Sport Innovations products are manufactured in Germany. Coming from the medical device world, the majority of the high-end and high-quality equipment is manufactured in Germany. This helped me trust the product. The fact that some of our finest Olympic athletes are using Sport Innovations blankets also speaks for itself.
I am also interested in further exploring the well-known therapeutic effects of PEMF therapy in injured horses but also as a preventive tool to avoid reinjury or any injury.
What do you personally love about the ProSeries & MAGPRO Plus?
I love the fact that with the ProSeries 3-1 you can combine the PEMF therapy with the massage function. It is a unique and innovative feature that enables you to increase blood circulation at the same time as you reduce muscle tension. I also love the fact that is a completely safe therapy and product that anyone can use and that you can bring it with you to shows etc. I personally like to have the ProSeries 3-1 at home in the barn and then bring the smaller PEMF therapy blanket the MAGPRO Plus with me to shows.
Why do you feel like clients would benefit from our products?
Due to its muscle relaxing and blood circulation capabilities, I think this is a blanket that is a tool that will be a game-changer for many as a must-have in their daily training, It is totally non-invasive, amateur-friendly, and FEI-approved. I also think that it will indeed prevent injuries from happening in the first place.
